Chiropractor
Dr. AJ, Neurostructural Chiropractor, D.C.
Dr. AJ (Abdullah Jaber), Neurostructural Chiropractor, is a chiropractor at Connected Chiropractic. Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, AJ is a lover of travel, culture, neuroscience, and sports.
AJ’s interest in chiropractic sparked when he suffered a concussion playing rugby – and felt clouding of consciousness (brain fog) and migraines for months after. It was not until he had seen a chiropractor and stuck to his chiropractic care plan designed by the chiropractor that he started to notice clarity, increased levels of energy, lack of headaches and more productivity.
AJ quickly encouraged his mother who had been dealing with lower back pain for over 15 years to see the Chiropractor. She also had adhered to her care plans and not only began to notice incredible relief at her lower back, but a reduction in symptoms of different conditions she had (less muscle spasms, less use for her asthma puffer). The Chiropractor told us that he did not treat anything, and that this was a response that her body decided to take without any interference from the brain communicating to the body, and that all he had did, was remove vertebral subluxations. AJ decided that it is a no brainer to want to help people the same way he and his mother were helped.
AJ has a double bachelors degree in Human Biology and Food Science & Nutrition from Carleton University in Canada and went on to study his passion at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic in Auckland. AJ feels he can relate to most people as he has worked in office jobs, retail, as a tradie, at a coffee shop, at a grocery store pushing carts, a landscaper, and most recently a house cleaner. In his spare time, AJ is furthering his knowledge in Chiropractic and Neuroscience, exercising and watching NBA basketball (Go Celtics).
AJ is also keen on giving back to the community, so you will see him getting involved with lower income societies, sports teams, churches, mosques and synagogues, promoting chiropractic at the Nelson markets and more.
AJ will carefully assess you, perform necessary physical exams and put you on a chiropractic technique and care plan that may suit you best to promote faster healing and comfortable care.
The techniques Dr. AJ, Neurostructural Chiropractor uses in practice are: Chiropractic Biophysics, Diversified, Gonstead, Thompson, Activator protocol, Drop-Assist, Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), Extremities, and Upper Cervical Specific with the use of muscle testing.
Director & Paediatric Nurse
Aria Leaning
Aria is a born and bred Nelsonian. She moved to Wellington but decided nothing beats her home town and moved back to Nelson. Aria is a Registered Paediatric Nurse.
She worked in the Paediatric ward of Nelson Hospital for 3 years. Aria loved her career in nursing but felt as though something was missing. Her true passion is child and maternity health. She wanted to move her focus more towards wellness and prevention rather than the acute hospital setting. Aria then found herself in the wonderful world of chiropractic. She began attending seminars around New Zealand and Australia and found how incredible chiropractic is. Aria joined the team at Connected Chiropractic, and since has seen and been a part of the miracles that take place when the nervous system is clear of interference. Aria will be starting her Chiropractic degree in January 2025, with a set goal in mind to improve paediatric, maternity and women’s health here in Nelson. You will see Aria running workshops on women’s health and tummy time with infants and expecting mothers. Aria lives an active lifestyle and loves the outdoors. You will find her at F45 Nelson, up a local mountain with her two dogs, on the netball court or paddleboarding around the beautiful Nelson-Tasman area.
